Accused Wootton Shooter Threatened Girl Earlier In Day: Police
The Thomas S. Wootton High School student who turned a gun on a classmate pointed the gun at another student "earlier in the day."

ROCKVILLE, MD — The 16-year-old Thomas S. Wootton High School student at the center of Monday's shooting pointed the gun he used in the incident at another 15-year-old student "earlier in the day," police said.
Rockville City Police Chief Jason West said the gun was pointed at a girl, and that she was not injured during the encounter.

Earlier Tuesday, the Rockville City Police Department identified the arrested student as Kahlil White-Villatoro, of Rockville, who is now facing multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder.

He is also facing two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and various firearms-related charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. White-Villatoro is being charged as an adult.
West confirmed Tuesday that the second counts of first- and second-degree assault were tied to White-Villatoro's encounter with the 15-year-old student.
White-Villatoro is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center’s Central Processing Unit.
A bond hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Montgomery County District Court. He is being held without bond.
A preliminary hearing for the case is set for Feb. 20 at 9:30 a.m.
The gun used in the shooting — a Polymer80 9 mm handgun — was also recovered late Monday. Officials did not specify who the gun was registered to, or how it came into White-Villatoro's possession.

Officers with the Montgomery County Police Department and the City of Rockville responded Monday to the high school at about 2:15 p.m. for reports of shots fired, as the school was put under lockdown.
The Montgomery County Police Department said in a news release that one 16-year-old student was found in a hallway inside the school suffering from a single gunshot wound. White-Villatoro was arrested near the school grounds.
Police said the injured student was in stable condition.
“Today is a heartbreaking and deeply unsettling day for our entire community," Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Taylor said during a news conference Monday night. "The kids and our staff are emotionally exhausted and understandably traumatized by today’s events.”
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
