Obituary for Robert Conner

Robert "Pop" Price Conner of Severna Park, age 64, died peacefully at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on Sept. 14, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 22, 1947, in Hartford City, Indiana to the late Charles and Gladys Conner. Bob served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. A lifetime member of the American Legion Post 368 in Van Buren, Indiana; he was a past Commander and very active. In 1981, Bob and Jayne moved to Severna Park and he began working for Carr Lowery Glass Manufacturer and most recently, as a lab technician at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Bob was an avid boater and also enjoyed reading, politics, cooking, gardening and woodworking, though, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. A Raven's, Orioles, and Chicago Bears fan... Bob loved sports. He enjoyed both watching and coaching his kids, and more recently, watching his grandchildren in all of their sporting activities. He was very active in Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church and was dedicated to volunteering his time to helping feed the homeless every Friday night, prior to his illness.

He is survived by Jayne, his wife of 37 years, his five children; daughters Laurie (Thurston) Dominguez, Michelle (Thurston) Greenwalt, Sheila (Thurston) Clarke, Jennifer (Conner) Welch, and son Charles Robert (Bobby) Conner; 14 grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Conner, of Wilmington, DE.
