A Silver Spring man separated from his family due to the pandemic will be able to fund a family homecoming thanks to a Maryland Lottery win.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man has been unable to visit his family overseas due to the pandemic, but a recent win the Maryland Lottery will make his long-awaited homecoming a reality, according to a release.
On March 28, the 68-year-old accountant stopped at the Glenmont Sunoco at 12321 Georgia Ave. to play his favorite lottery games. One of his purchases was a Pick 5 quick pick ticket for that night's drawing.
That evening, when the man check his ticket, he saw that his $1 straight bet on numbers 85420 was a match.

“I’m bringing them home,” the man said, when asked what he was going to do with the $50,000. “That’s what I plan to do with the winnings.” Anything left, he'll put into savings.
This isn't the first big lottery win for the Silver Spring man. Thirty years ago, he played the Powerball in Washington, D.C. and won $100,000.
For selling the $50,000-winning Pick 5 ticket, the Glenmont Sunoco will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
