Armed Suspect In Home Invasion Charged With Attempted Murder: Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — One year after a 58-year-old woman was critically injured during an armed home invasion, a Silver Spring man has been charged in the felony.

Montgomery County Police said Saatehu Mesutmen, 27, has been charged with home invasion and first-degree attempted murder for shooting the victim inside her home. The attack happened on April 11, 2022, in the 13200 block of Stravinsky Terrace in Silver Spring.

Detectives learned that Mesutmen fired multiple shots through the sliding glass door in the back of the house and entered the residence, where he found the victim and shot her.

The resident was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, where she was treated and later released, authorities said.

Mesutmen had no connection to the victim.

Detectives identified Mesutmen as the shooter, and sought a warrant for his arrest on May 5.

Mesutmen is currently being held in Prince George's County on unrelated charges. He is expected to be extradited to Montgomery County, police said.
