Silver Spring, MD - Local natural hair care salon, Loc Lov, LLC, will be hosting their First Annual Black Excellence Gala on April 19, 2015
Silver Spring, MD - Local natural hair care salon, Loc Lov, LLC, will be hosting their First Annual Black Excellence Gala on April 19, 2015 in downtown Silver Spring at The Civic Center. This fundraising event will honor three extraordinary community vanguards, while supporting the non-profit, Life Pieces to Masterpieces, which uses art to transform the lives of African-American boys and young men ages 3-25 in DC’s most challenging neighborhoods.
Three remarkable individuals from the community will be honored at this celebration. Romeo Abraham is a social worker who works tirelessly to transform the lives of young people on the margins. Akunna Iheanacho is a biochemist who helped develop a vaccine for the Ebola virus. The final honoree, Niky Grogan, is a Russian and Uzbek linguist who helps women transcend the wounds of their past.
The keynote speaker for the Black Excellence Gala is Tulani Kinard, member of the Grammy Award winning a cappella group Sweet Honey in the Rock, and a true renaissance woman who carries the message of love, peace, transformation, activism, and spiritual awakening.

The Gala will be a semi-formal event with a delicious seated dinner menu, live jazz band The Cheryl Jones Quartet , a DJ and dancing.
