The Silver Spring Garden Club invites you to our April meeting featuring a talk on: Speaking the Language of Flowers Come celebrate spring with author Amy Brecount White as she demonstrates how to improve — and enliven — your communication skills using the Victorian language of flowers. She’ll discuss the literary origins of the language, read excerpts from her novel, and assemble tussie-mussie messages. White’s first novel, Forget-Her-Nots (HarperCollins, 2010) brings the language of flowers magically to life in the hands of a fourteen-year-old girl. Amy Brecount White is a writer and teacher who frequently presents her novel and demonstrates the language of flowers at botanic gardens, schools, garden clubs, and book groups. She lives and gardens in Arlington, VA. Over 80 of her articles and essays have appeared in The Washington Post. She currently writes for Arlington magazine, the new sister to Bethesda magazine, and teaches writing at Don Bosco Cristo Rey in Takoma Park, MD. WHEN: Monday, April 16, 8:00pm
Doors open at 7:30pm WHERE: Brookside Gardens
