Fentanyl Pills, Ghost Gun Seized In Glenmont Shopping Center Arrest

SILVER SPRING, MD — An arrest by Montgomery County Police at a Glenmont shopping center on Wednesday resulted in the seizure of hundreds of Fentanyl pills, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a ghost gun, according to a release.

Officers responded around 4:50 p.m to a shopping center located at 12345 Georgia Ave., following a complaint from business owners and residents in the area about ongoing alcohol, drug and disorderly conduct going on there.

The officers observed 20-year-old Alan Garcia of Silver Spring and a juvenile female in a stairwell behind 12331 Georgia Ave., in an area marked with "No Trespassing" sings. As the officers approached, they saw that the two possessed drug paraphernalia. Garcia tried to run, but police quickly placed him under arrest.

Searching Garcia, the officers found hundreds of Fentanyl pills, a large amount of cash, drug paraphernalia containing Heroin resident, and a 9mm privately made firearm or "ghost gun." The gun was fully automatic and capable of firing multiple rounds in rapid succession, according to police.

Officers arrested the juvenile female and took her to the 4th District Station, where they charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing. After notifying the Department of Juvenile Services of the girl's arrest, police released her to a parent.

After being taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, Garcia was charged with illegal possession of firearm, possession of firearm in the commission of a felony, possession with the intent to distribute drugs, resisting arrest and trespassing. He remains in custody and is being held without bond.
