Firefighters Face 'Severe' Hoarding Conditions During Silver Spring House Fire
Firefighters put out a fire in a Silver Spring home with severe hoarding conditions Sunday.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County firefighters faced the challenge of putting out a fire in a Silver Spring home with severe hoarding conditions this weekend, officials announced.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said a passerby saw smoke in a home in the 1000 block of Greenock Rd. and called 911 Sunday.
Arriving firefighters had trouble getting to the fire in the basement because of severe hoarding. Piringer said the fire was started by combustibles placed too close to the refrigerator motor in the basement.
