The branch's "refresh" project is part of a new Capital Improvement Program process approved by the Montgomery County Executive and Council.
The Library Refurbishment CIP supports cosmetic, programmatic, and service impact updates to a select few libraries every year. Before, branches were only renovated once every 25+ years, according to library officials.

"Given the fast pace of changes we face in the provision of library services and technology developments, renovations on a 25 year cycle no longer work to keep our buildings state of the art and updated," Montgomery County Public Libraries said.
