Lucky Granddad From Silver Spring Buys $50K Lottery Ticket In Bowie
A Silver Spring man with eight grandchildren claimed his $50,000 prize last week on a Maryland Lottery ticket he bought in Bowie.

SILVER SPRING, MD — After playing the Maryland Lottery for years, a Silver Spring man with eight grandchildren finally got lucky and won the top prize in the $20 $50,000 Cash game, according to a release.
“It’s the first time winning something of this magnitude,” he said, claiming his prize March 3 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He plans to pay down his mortgage with his winnings, though his grandkids might benefit from his win as well.
The Silver Spring resident purchased his winning ticket at Shoppers Food #2383 located at 10501 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Bowie, according to the release. For selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off ticket, the store will receive $500 from the lottery.
