MCPS Classes May Start Before Labor Day Next Year: Report
Officials are mulling over three calendar options for the 2020-2021 school year. Two of them include a pre-Labor Day start, a report says.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County education officials have once again raised the possibility of starting the school year before Labor Day.
Maryland's most populous county hasn't started school before Labor Day since 2016, when Republican Gov. Larry Hogan issued an executive order to start classes after the September holiday. Since then, the Maryland General Assembly has overturned the executive order.
WTOP reports that school officials are mulling over three calendar options for the 2020-2021 school year. Two of them include a pre-Labor Day start.
