New York Woman $50K Richer After Visiting 7-Eleven In Silver Spring
A woman from New York bought a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket from a Silver Spring 7-Eleven store that turned out to be worth $50,000.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A New York woman traveling south to celebrate a family member's birthday was $50,000 richer after making a pitstop at a 7-Eleven in Silver Spring recently.
After entering the 7-Eleven at 9254 New Hampshire Ave. to purchase a drink for her daughter, the 26-year-old woman decided to buy a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket, according to a release.
“My mom came in the store with me,” the soon-to-be mother of two told lottery officials. “She was the one who suggested I try a ticket.”

Although the resident of Hampton Bays on Long Island will buy an occasional lottery ticket, her mother plays daily.“Mom always says, ‘You never know,’ and, man, was she right," she said.
After spending $20 to buy a $50,000 Cash scratch-off, the woman returned to her car, where she scratched off her instant ticket.

“I saw right away that I’d won $50,000, it was crazy," she told Lottery officials "I showed my boyfriend and he agreed. I was stunned.” Both she and her boyfriend couldn't believe that she'd won.
When her mother got into the car, she couldn't speak at first, the New Yorker said. "Then she started screaming, ‘I told you, I told you. You never know!’”
The New York couple told lottery officials they planned to use the prize money to help get there home ready for the arrival of their second child.
The 7-Eleven store that sold the winning ticket will earn a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
