Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run, Driver Arrested For DUI In Silver Spring
Montgomery County Police say a DC man was fatally hit while crossing a Silver Spring street; the driver is charged with DUI.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Laurel woman has been charged with drunk driving, and may face more serious charges, after authorities say she fatally struck a pedestrian on Colesville Road in Silver Spring and then left the scene. Montgomery County Police have arrested Janet Brown, 30, of Briarwood Drive in Laurel, for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Donald Morgan Jr., 49, of Tuckerman Street NW in Washington, D.C., was crossing Colesville Road in the area of a marked crosswalk at Fenton Street. A 2016 Honda Accord driven by Brown was northbound on Colesville Road and allegedly struck Morgan.
Police say Brown left the collision scene, was located by a Montgomery County Police Officer and was arrested for SUI. No formal charges have been brought against Brown at this time. Formal charges, if any are to be brought, will be placed once the collision investigation is complete.

Witnesses reportedly saw Brown stop after the collision, get out of her vehicle, and then leave the scene. Bystanders gave police officers a description of the striking vehicle and the car’s tag number, along with a description of the driver.
The description of the striking vehicle and driver was broadcast to officers. An officer saw the vehicle traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue just south of Colesville Road and stopped it.

Officers gave life-saving measures to Morgan at the collision scene. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
