Sex Abuse Charges Filed In Silver Spring School Case

A 21-year-old security guard at Silver Spring Middle School was charged with having sex several times with a 14-year-old female student.

SILVER SPRING, MD -- A Silver Spring Middle School security assistant was arrested for having inappropriate sexual conduct with a 14-year-old female student, police say. The 21-year-old security guard admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl.

Mike Anthony Lievano, of Silver Spring, faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor. Since March, Lievano had been texting the female student and had sex with her both at his home and her apartment, police say. He faces third-degree and fourth-degree sex offenses, being a person in a position of authority.

The charge comes amid the case of Mark Yantsos, a former security guard at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, who faces charges of having sex with a 17-year-old student of that school. Both Yantsos and Lievano are on administrative leave from their duties.

Montgomery County detectives were notified of the alleged sexual abuse on May 4. The 14-year-old girl and Lievano "started dating," she said, according to court documents, on March 29. She told police they had sex several times as her apartment in Silver Spring.

Lievano also admitted to having sex with the minor twice in her apartment, until April 30, when the girl's mother caught him in her bedroom. A warrant for his arrest was issued and he turned himself in.
