Silver Spring Kidnapping, Carjacking Suspect Behind Bars: Police
A man accused of stealing a car with three children inside has been arrested and charged, according to Montgomery County Police.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Authorities charged a D.C. man with armed robbery, kidnapping, and carjacking after they said he stole a car with three children inside.
Daivon Marquez Belt, 20, of Northwest Washington, was arrested and charged after Montgomery County Police found the stolen car unoccupied in Hyattsville.
Authorities say it was stolen on July 18. At approximately 2 p.m., a mother parked her car and took one of her children to the Capital One Bank at 8740 Arliss St. in Silver Spring. Her three other kids — a two-year-old girl, a nine-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl — remained in the back seat of the vehicle, which was still running.

Then, the suspect got into the car and drove out of the parking lot. According to police, the 15-year-old girl saw what appeared to be a black handgun in the carjacker's pocket.
The man drove to an apartment complex parking lot, located in the 8600 block of Piney Branch Rd., and demanded money from the eldest victim, police said. After she complied, the suspect let the children out of the vehicle and drove away.
