Silver Spring Man, 44, Fatally Wounded In DC Shooting: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — A 44-year-old Silver Spring man was identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Monday morning in southeast Washington, D.C., according to police.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded around 9:18 a.m. to the 2200 block of 16th St., Southeast, for the report of a shooting. The arriving officers found 44-year-old Robert Ferguson of Silver Spring, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Ferguson was taken to a nearby hospital by D.C. Fire and Rescue personnel to be treated for his injuries, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

A reward of up to $25,000 is currently offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a homicide committed in the District.
