Silver Spring Man Dies from Delaware Interstate Crash Injuries
A Silver Spring couple were injured in an Oct. 11 crash near Newark, DE; the husband died Nov. 9 from his injuries, state police say.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man has died from injuries he suffered a month ago when the SUV he was riding in careened off an interstate and crashed in Delaware, authorities say.
Robert Milner, 78, of Silver Spring, died Nov. 9 at Christiana Hospital Trauma Center in Wilmington, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police. He was a passenger in a 2010 Cadillac SUV driven by his wife, Carole Milner, 77, that crashed Oct. 11 on Interstate 95 north of the Delaware Toll Plaza near Newark, Delaware.
For an unknown reason, the Milner's Cadillac suddenly veered off the east edge of the highway and onto the grass until it struck the top of a concrete culvert. Police say the SUV continued on before until it struck a concrete drainage tube; it eventually stopped about 30 feet off the roadway.

Carole Milner, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the vehicle for about 20 minutes until she was extricated by emergency personnel. She was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being flown by Delaware State Police Helicopter to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she was admitted with serious injuries.
Robert Milner was a front-seat passenger who was taken by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital, where he was also admitted in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation by the Delaware State Police. It is unknown if alcohol or drug use was a factor in the crash.
