Starbucks closing 3 DC-area locations among 250 North American stores (fox5dc.com) — One of the three Starbucks stores the company is closing in the D.C. region this week is the White Oak Town Center location in Silver Spring, meaning nearby customers and workers will soon lose that shop. Starbucks says these closures, including others in Rockville and downtown D.C., target underperforming stores that no longer meet its financial or customer-experience standards.
   

2. October 30, 2026: Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee (fda.gov) — The FDA's White Oak Campus in Silver Spring will host a Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee meeting on October 30 to review a proposed eye drop for slowing myopia progression in children.
