Silver Spring Suspicious Package Deemed Safe: Police
Two roads were closed in Silver Spring Thursday morning because of a suspicious package, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police closed two roads in Silver Spring because of a suspicious package Thursday morning, officials said.
At about 8:30 a.m., police announced they closed Connecticut Avenue and Randolph Road due to a suspicious package. Bomb Squad responded to the scene to investigate, according to Pete Piringer, the Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service.
Police reopened the roads at about 9:30 a.m. when the package was determined to be safe.

Piringer urges residents to call 911 if they see suspicious activity.
