Silver Spring Zombie Walk Set for Oct. 25

The streets of Silver Spring will be taken over by the undead when the sixth annual Silver Spring Zombie Walk draws several thousand participants on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The walk starts at the intersection of Sligo and Georgia Avenues and continues to the AFI Silver Theatre.

The event features a social hour from 7 to 8 p.m. at Jackie’s Sidebar on Sligo Avenue, followed by the walk to AFI Silver Theatre for a screening of “Dead Snow 2.”

According to the event organizers, last year’s Zombie Walk featured undead of the classic-traditional style along with more post-modern zombie’s based on pop culture, such as TV’s “Breaking Bad,” “Game of Thrones,” and the movie “The Shining.”

Expect the following road closures:

• Selim Road will be closed from 7-9 p.m. for zombies to gather before the walk.
• Sligo Avenue will be closed from Georgia to Mayor’s Lane from 9-10 p.m. for the beginning of the walk.
