2 Women Assault Uber Driver In Takoma Park: Police

Police arrested a Takoma Park woman and a Silver Spring woman for first degree assault, attempted armed robbery and more.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Two Montgomery County women were arrested on a slew of charges for attempting to assault and rob an Uber driver, Takoma Park Acting Chief Tyrone Collington, Sr. announced Monday.

At about 5:22 p.m. Sunday, Takoma Park Police responded to the 900 block of East West Highway for the report of a theft of services of an Uber driver by two female subjects. After hearing the Uber driver's version of events, the police upgraded the call to an assault call, police said.

The driver picked up two women — later identified as Jennifer Denise Williams, 32, of Takoma Park, and Danielle Yanique Ashira, 22, of Silver Spring — and stopped at a gas station. After stopping, one of the subjects allegedly held a knife to the victim’s neck while exiting the vehicle without paying, police said.
