Help build bridges of intercultural understanding by sharing your home and daily life with an exchange student. AFS is looking for volunteer host families for high school exchange students coming from more than 90 countries for the 2013-2014 school year.
Meet some of the students coming in August:
Olivia 15, of Germany, is a dedicated student and ballet dancer. She also has a gift for languages as she is proficient in German, Polish, Latin, English and French. Olivia’s other favorite subject in school is art, and she particularly enjoys acrylic and watercolor painting. In the future, she would either like to be a photographer or journalist. Outside of school, Olivia enjoys reading, playing tennis, bicycling, practicing theater and just hanging out with her friends and family. She is super excited for the novel experiences that studying and living in
the USA will bring her!

Alessia, 16, of Italy, is a quiet young woman who is cheerful and ambitious. She has a close relationship with her parents and loves playing with her four cats. She like reading and watching movies, especially Japanese anime. She is also part of a scouting group and takes extra classes to learn Chinese and English. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, cooking and playing badminton. Alessia hopes this experience will allow her to become more outgoing and open up to people.
Ruttanan, 16, of Thailand, likes to go by the nickname 'Ice.’ He is a studious young man with a big passion for art. He spends much of his time drawing, a favorite hobby since he was little. He aspires to make a career out of his artistic talents. Ice also performs very well in school with excellent English skills. He likes practicing his violin, hiking, reading, swimming and traveling. Ice is wellliked
and considered to be considerate and helpful.
