Community Corner

Save the Chimps drive

GSCNC Troop 5384 has undertaken a huge community service project -- we are collecting materials for Save the Chimps (www.savethechimps.org), a Chimpanzee sanctuary in Fort Pierce, Florida!  This is a really worthwhile organization that is housing chimps that were used for medical and other types of research in the past, but are now in a safe, appropriate environment.

We are looking especially for large, new Kong toys, large stuffed animals (used are fine, no pellets please), canisters of oats, boxes of raisins, and packages of dried fruit.  Our fliers are below:

Please consider helping us; I will pick up any Kong toy within 10 miles of Takoma Park, and any four stuffed animals or packages of food items within 10 miles of Takoma Park.  I'm also very happy to have you drop
off items at my home; please contact me directly for the address.  If your Boy Scout or Girl Scout troop or other youth organization wants to participate, we are more than happy to share the drive!  We are collecting through the month of April.

Sincerely,
Jana Asher
