The Universities at Shady Grove to Host April 11 Event on Human Trafficking, Featuring Film Screening, Panel Discussion
Rockville, Md.—Each year, approximately 27 million individuals world-wide are enslaved by human trafficking and about 200,000 of those individuals are in the United States. On Thursday, April 11 at 4 p.m., The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) will host a free event entitled, “A Glimpse of the Truth Behind Human Trafficking,” which will feature a panel discussion and screening of the documentary film, Not My Life. The event is free.
A Glimpse of the Truth Behind Human Trafficking will take place 4- 6 p.m. at The Universities at Shady Grove, in the Auditorium, Building. Maryland State Senator Jennie M. Forehand, Nancy Winston-Director of Shared Hope International, Sgt. Ken Penrod, Detective, Montgomery County, Md. Police Department and Barbara Amaya, a survivor of human trafficking, will participate in the panel discussion. The USG student groups Students Engaged in Public Health (SEIPH), Political Science Students Organization, and Dreamers 4 Dreamers will be co-sponsors of the event.
