Armed Man Tries To Break Into Car With Shovel: Takoma Park Police
Police are searching for an armed man who tried to break into a car on Laurel Avenue with a shovel.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Takoma Park Police are investigating a first-degree assault and attempted theft from auto incident that took place on Laurel Avenue Tuesday.
At about 5:22 p.m., police responded to the 6900 block of Laurel Ave. The victim parked his vehicle on Laurel Avenue to run an errand and upon returning to his vehicle, he saw an unknown man attempting to break into his vehicle with a garden shovel, police said.
A witness approached the man, which prompted him to quickly start backing away while displaying an unknown type of handgun, police said. The man got into an older model Oldsmobile-style vehicle with temporary Maryland tags and fled south on Eastern Avenue.

Police describe the subject as a black male, slim, mid-20's, short dreads, last seen wearing khaki pants and a white shirt. Investigation continues under case #170513471. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to please call us at 301-270-1100.
