Wheaton has delicious restaurant options galore, and Latin American cuisine a plenty. But if you are looking for upscale Salvadorean and Mexican cuisine, Azucar Restaurant Bar and Grill is the place.ย
Pull up a chair and order a margarita or a glass of vino from the reasonable but well-chosen wine list. The menu includes an array of Latin dishes. Tex-Mex fajitas, Baja-inspired chimichangas and Cuban-spiced steaks all shine. Mexican classics like chiles rellenos, tacos, and burritos are excellent. The luncheon salads are a super excuse to schedule a mid-day meeting.
Many regulars keep coming back to Azucar specifically for the seafood, citing the catch of the day specials like the shrimp and crabmeat as deliciously crave-worthy. Others (including my carnivore husband) enjoy the Argentinian take on the New York steak.
