Charbroiled/Peruvian/charcoal/rotisserie-style chicken restaurants have popped up at a steady pace in the area over the last few years. Of course, they generally feature the word โpolloโ and some really have interesting names. My favorite has to be POLLO WOW, located on New Hampshire Avenue both for its name and its chicken!
Unlike many others that I have visited, Pollo Wow has a bright and clean interior, but still has that wafting aroma that brings in many Takoma Parkers like so many Pavlovโs dogs.
Pollo Wow sticks to the traditional offerings โ quarter, half or whole chicken with sauces and sides. The mild yellow sauce is tasty, especially if you mix in a bit of the verde sauce for a little kick. The fried yucca beats the French fries that many other similar restaurants offer as a side, and the plantains are on par with others Iโve tried.

The seating is very limited (three tables), but you can always grab a whole chicken and some sides to take home to your family! ย
