City Officials Hire Firm To Help Police Chief Search In Takoma Park
City officials chose a consulting firm to assist with the Takoma Park Police Chief search after Chief Goldberg resigned in March.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — City officials chose a Minneapolis consulting firm to assist with the Takoma Park Police Chief search, according to reports.
Officials approved an ordinance during Wednesday's council meeting and chose the firm Springsted Waters to help with their national search, My Montgomery Community Media reports.
Springsted Waters was chosen from the six firms that submitted proposals to the city. The firm is based in Minneapolis, but employees will work out of their Mechanicsville office in Virginia.

Chief Allen Goldberg resigned in March due to personal reasons. Goldberg began working for the City of Takoma Park in October 2012 after he retired from a long career with the Montgomery County Police Department. Goldberg has served a total of 39 years in law enforcement.

City officials are striving to find a new chief by the end of the summer. Springsted Waters charges $24,500 for their services, including professional fees of $19,500 and related expenses not to exceed $5,000. The ordinance is effective immediately.
In the meantime, the three Police Department captains — Captain Dan Frishkorn, Captain Tyrone Collington and Captain Richard Bowers — will rotate Acting Chief responsibilities.
