You're invited to our spring sale and showing in Washington D.C. of 300+ authentic Cuban movie and political posters, plus 100 worldwide social cause and cultural posters. ...plus two dozen gorgeous Mayan Guatemalan textiles.
We'll be open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday. We hope you can stop by, even just to have a quick look. Art students are welcome! We'll be displaying some rarely seen graphics from Havana, Cuba and beyond.
A few words about Cuba's silk-screened movie posters: For more than 50 years the Cuban Film Institute has been designing handmade 20-by-30-inch posters for almost every movie shown on the island, domestic or foreign. So expect to see posters for U.S. films such as Cabaret, Silence of the Lambs, the Godfather, Rebel Without A Cause, Schindler's List and Clockwork Orange. These silk-screens are beautifully designed and copies can also be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum and London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and many other museums.
