Silver Spring-based film nonprofit, Docs In Progress and We Are Takoma are co-presenting a documentary screening of MARRIED IN SPANDEX. This is a free program which is open to the public.
ABOUT THE FILM
As they begin a life's journey together, Amanda and Rachel are determined to make their wedding day a unique and memorable affair. Married in Spandex follows the young women as they navigate their way from their home in the City of Brotherly Love to the town of Ames, Iowa for a celebration like nothing anyone has ever seen. But, at a time when every same-sex wedding is seen as a political act and brides or grooms-to-be are asked to walk the entire LGBT community down the aisle, will everyone be cheering Amanda and Rachel's offbeat "I do"?

The film was first workshopped at Docs In Progress Trailer Night in 2010. Since being completed in 2011, it has won awards from film festivals around the world. We are very excited that filmmakers Allison Kole and Devin Gallagher will be joining us to discuss the making of the film and the issues it addresses following the screening.
