There's a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, increasing in the evening when skies turn mostly cloudy. Chances of rain 20 percent, increasing to 30 percent by late evening.

3. This day in history: On this day in 1957, Althea Gibson became the first African American to win Wimbledon, winning the women's singles tennis championship.

3. A good way to escape the heat is at the movies--and did you know you (and the kids) can see a summer movie for only a buck? 4. More mid-week summer fun: if you don't mind braving the heat you can catch a free summer outdoor concert this evening at in Rockville. Tonight's performance features the Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band, bridging West African music with jazz, pop and funk. The show starts at 7:00 (get there early to park and get your spot on the lawn).
