3. This day in history: On this day in 1957, Althea Gibson became the first African American to win Wimbledon, winning the women's singles tennis championship.

4. More mid-week summer fun: if you don't mind braving the heat you can catch a free summer outdoor concert this evening at in Rockville. Tonight's performance features the Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band, bridging West African music with jazz, pop and funk. The show starts at 7:00 (get there early to park and get your spot on the lawn).
