Man Arrested in String of Burglaries in Takoma Park

A Bladensburg man has been arrested in connection with a string of residential burglaries, Takoma Park Police report.

Fernando Johnson, 39, was arrested for first-degree burglary Aug. 12 for two burglaries that occurred on Elm Avenue Aug. 9 and a third burglary on Takoma Avenue Aug. 12, police said.

Johnson was developed as a suspect during the burglary investigation which led to his arrest in the 6500 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park, according to police.

Charges included theft of more than $1,000, malicious destruction of property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, and driving on a suspended driver’s license and other
traffic-related offenses, police said.

Johnson was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit pending an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
