Man Charged With Second Degree Assault In Takoma Park

A man was arrested for theft from auto, second degree assault and other charges, police said.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — A 31-year-old Hyattsville man was arrested on a slew of charges in Takoma Park, police said. Ryan Lockonsingh, 31, was charged with theft from auto, second degree assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and rogue and vagabond.

At about 1:30 p.m. the Takoma Park Police Department responded to the area of Trescott Avenue and Hilton Avenue for a suspicious person who was stopping and blocking moving vehicles, police said. When officers arrived, the man — later identified as Lockonsingh — was allegedly found rummaging through a vehicle.

When Lockonsingh saw police presence, he attempted to flee on foot towards Flower Avenue and Jackson Avenue, police said. Lackonsingh was apprehended at the intersection of Flower Avenue and Carroll Avenue, police said.

During the apprehension, Lockonsingh was allegedly uncooperative and assaulted one of the officers. Lockonsingh was eventually brought under control, arrested, and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, police told Patch.
