Man Dies, 2 Teens Injured in Takoma Park Crash

Montgomery County Police are trying to determine why the car crashed into a stone wall in front of a house.

A Takoma Park man died Thursday night and two teenagers were injured when their car crashed into a stone wall, according to Montgomery County Police.

The accident was reported just before 7:30 p.m. at 7810 Carroll Ave. Investigators say a 2000 Toyota Corolla was northbound on Carroll Avenue when it went off the right side of the roadway and struck a stone wall and embankment in front of a residence.

The driver died from his injuries at the scene. He has been identified as Yoftahea Afework Melese, 20, of the 7700 block of Maple Avenue in Takoma Park.

A 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in the front seat, was taken to Suburban Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The rear seat passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to Washington Hospital Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
