Police: Bank Robbery Bomb Threats Suspect Arrested

A Takoma Park man is charged with three counts of armed robbery.

Montgomery County Police have arrested Morris Kenneth Thweatt, 46, of Takoma Park for allegedly robbing three banks in Silver Spring.

Investigators say Thweatt entered each bank and passed a note to the teller claiming he had a bomb. He then displayed a device wrapped in foil to the teller, according to a news release.

Thweatt allegedly robbed the Capital One bank located at 12293 Tech Road in Silver Spring on June 10, the Capital One bank located at 115 University Boulevard in Silver Spring on July 2 and the Bank of America located at 10151 Colesville Road in Silver Spring on July 22.

Detectives identified Thweatt through DNA evidence left at the scene. Officers arrested him at his residence July 25 and charged with three counts of armed robbery.
