Police Log: Recent Crime In Takoma Park

Takoma Park Pork Police reported the following recent activity, including vandalism, malicious destruction of property and more.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — The following actions were reported by the Takoma Park Police Department:

Attempt Thefts from Auto; Destruction of Property

Three cars were broken into on Valentine's Day on Boston Avenue in Takoma Park, police told Patch. At about 8 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Boston Avenue for the report of a theft from a car that occurred some time between February 13 at 5:00 pm and February 14 at 8:00 am. Unknown suspect(s) leaned into the window to rifle through the vehicle, police said. After police met with this victim, two other reports were made for the same issue; another in the 700 block of Boston Avenue and the other in the 500 block of Boston Avenue. The suspects broke the front passenger window of the car in the 500 block of Boston Avenue, but it appears that no property was taken in any of the cases, police told Patch.

Theft

At about 9:12 a.m. on Feb. 18, police responded to the unit block of Philadelphia Avenue for a report of a theft. Unknown suspects stole property from the victim's residential porch, police told Patch.

Vandalism

Takoma Park Police responded to the 6300 block of Westmoreland Avenue for the report of an attempted theft from a vehicle at about 2:14 a.m. Feb. 19. The victim's car alarm was activated and when he looked outside, he noticed someone inside his vehicle, police said. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot in an unknown direction. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, but the rear driver's side window had been smashed out. Officers canvassed the area and found two other vehicles that had windows smashed out as well.

Malicious Destruction of Property

At about 12:58 p.m. Feb. 20, police were called to the Takoma Business Center in the 6900 block of Carroll Avenue for a report of malicious destruction of property. An unknown suspect exited the building and intentionally smashed an interior glass entrance door, police said. Police described the suspect as a black male, about 6-feet-tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black long sleeve sweatshirt, black Under Armor sweatpants and neon green shoes.
