As you may know, the Takoma Park Police department is employing license plate readers. These devices instantly record all vehicles' license plates that pass in front of the readers. While this practice might be relevant to identifying stolen cars those with flagrant outstanding moving violators, etc, is there any reason for keeping these records of our movements for six months or more? Certain jurisdictions erase these records after a week or two but not Takoma Park. If you're concerned about this practice,please call your councilman and make your voice heard.
