TOWSON, MD — The next person to serve as superintendent for the Baltimore County Public Schools system has been selected, the board of education announced Saturday.
The winner of the top BCPS job was not named as the candidate must still be approved by Dr. Carey Wright, the Maryland state superintendent. Once approved, the person will be named Monday.

Following the name reveal, the candidate will be officially appointed to the post Wednesday. The change will take effect July 1.
The opening for the superintendent role was announced in February, when current superintendent Myriam Rogers said she would be retiring.
BCPS has more than 100,000 students enrolled across its school district.
