Baltimore County Animal Services Surpasses 10,000 Spay-Neuter Operations
Opening a new spay/neuter clinic and offering $20 procedures are among county's strategies for curbing homeless animal population.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Baltimore County Animal Services marked two milestones this week.
There have been more than 10,000 spay/neuter operations since Baltimore County began offering the service in 2013, officials announced Monday.
There have been 6,300-plus procedures performed in the Baldwin facility and 3,800-plus in Dundalk, county officials said in a statement.

A third clinic, this one in the southwest part of the county, opened this week. The Southwest Area Park facility went into operation on Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Baltimore Highlands.
“We have made tremendous strides in upgrading Animal Services and reducing the population of stray animals in our communities," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement, "and with our new low-cost spay/neuter facilities in three locations around the county, we are determined to reach the goal of doubling our positive results by altering 20,000 animals in the next calendar year."
