'No Foul Play' in Towson University Student's Death: Police

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the student died in an accident, Baltimore County police report.

The Towson University student who died over the weekend at an off-campus apartment fell and hit her head, according to a report from the Baltimore County Police Department.

The medical examiner determined that Julia Margaret Ratnaraj, 18, died from head and neck injuries, the report said.

According to police, the cause of death was ruled accidental—Ratnaraj fell backward into a sliding glass door and hit her head at a friend’s apartment in the 300 block of East Joppa Road, where friends said she had been drinking. Police said there was no evidence of foul play when they were called to the scene at 11:38 p.m. on Saturday.

Ratnaraj was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The student lived at Richmond Hall on the university campus in Towson. Her hometown was Sewell, NJ, according to police.
