Goucher College: Dean Of Students Nicole Johnson Earns National Honor

Goucher College Dean of Students Nicole Johnson has been selected as a member of the
American College Personnel Association’s Diamond Honoree Class of 2022.

Goucher College Dean of Students Nicole Johnson has been selected as a member of the American College Personnel Association’s Diamond Honoree Class of 2022. The Diamond Honoree Program, established in 1999, recognizes college personnel who
have a high level of sustained service, leadership, and scholarship that enhances
the lives of college students and professionals while advancing the fields of student
affairs and higher education.

“I am humbled, excited, and proud to be named a 2022 ACPA Diamond Honoree with a group
of phenomenal colleagues that are doing amazing work in higher education and student
affairs,” says Johnson. “ACPA is my professional home and provided me so many opportunities
to learn and build great relationships with colleagues that are friends around the
globe. Goucher has given me the opportunity to grow professionally and do good work.
This recognition reminds me that when you do good work, people see it, appreciate,
and acknowledge it.”

Johnson joined Goucher College in 2018 as the assistant dean of students for race,
equity, and identity. She later served as the associate dean of students for student
support and success and, earlier this year, she was named dean of students.

“Nicole’s impact on the student development experience can be seen daily in how she
engages with students and leverages her time with them to re-enforce her support and
care for their success,” says Aarika Camp, vice president for student affairs at Goucher
College. “What many may not see is how Nicole constantly examines practices and policies
to ensure that they are student-centered.”

In March, a celebration of Diamond Honorees will be held during the ACPA Convention
in St. Louis.
