Goucher College Receives $1M Gift From Andrew And Ann Tisch Foundation

Goucher College announced today that the Andrew and Ann Tisch Foundation has donated
$1 million to the institution. Through its philanthropic efforts, their foundation
is widely recognized for its support of outstanding academic and youth development
programs and organizations. At Goucher, the Tisch gift will establish a fellowship
in the Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program to support Goucher’s commitment to foster
a diverse and dynamic student body inclusive of underrepresented communities.

students and students of color,” said Ann Tisch. “Goucher is an innovative liberal
arts college, and the quality education its students receive offers lifechanging opportunities.
Andrew and I firmly believe that investing in a student’s potential provides remarkable
pathways for their future success.”

This gift will create an endowed fellowship known as the Tisch Fellow in Post-baccalaureate
Premedical Program. Launching in 2021, the fellowship will be awarded annually to
an outstanding student enrolled in the Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program. Andrew
and Ann Tisch’s daughter, Charlotte Tisch, is a 2019 graduate of the program.

Formalized in 1984, Goucher’s Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program is one of the
most highly regarded in the nation. The college’s modern liberal arts curriculum focuses
on interdisciplinary complex problem-solving. The Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program
is built upon Goucher’s tradition of rigorous undergraduate science education and
provides students with intensive premedical preparation. Over the past ten years, 100%
of program graduates have been accepted into top-ranked U.S. medical schools.

The Andrew and Ann Tisch Foundation is recognized for its dedication to supporting
education initiatives, which include Harvard, Brown University, Barnard College, University
of Washington, and Cornell University along with youth and community programs across
the nation. One such organization, the Student Leadership Network, founded by Ann
Tisch, operates the Young Women’s Leadership Schools, a network of all-girls public
schools that provide access to high-quality college preparatory studies. This organization
also created CBI – The College Bound Initiative, which places highly trained college
guidance counselors in New York City public schools.

Their foundation shares Goucher’s commitment to providing educational opportunities
to underserved populations. Service and social justice lie at the core of the college’s
