Monkton Gunman Is in Custody, Gun Recovered: Police

Baltimore County police said suspect has not yet been charged.

MONKTON, MD — Authorities have apprehended a man who allegedly shot at his girlfriend Wednesday morning in Monkton. The incident occurred inside an apartment in the 16900 block of York Road.

The suspect is not being identified until he is officially charged. He is described as a 33-year-old white man who is 5'7" tall with brown hair and green eyes, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The case began when police were dispatched to a welfare check for shots fired in the 16900 block of York Road at 5:11 a.m. The suspect discharged a gun and threatened his girlfriend, who took the firearm from him.

She had minor injuries but was not shot, according to officials, who said the man left before police arrived.

Police issued a lookout for the suspect, who was taken into custody before noon. He was found behind a trailer for Meadowcroft Towing and was unarmed, according to authorities.

Leading up to the suspect's arrest, the manhunt affected traffic and drew heavy police presence to Monkton.

Early in the investigation, police closed a section of York Road. By 9:25 a.m., York Road reopened between Mount Carmel Road and Everett Road.

Authorities said they were investigating two other crimes nearby as potentially connected to the incident, after Mount Carmel Animal Hospital and a Nationwide Insurance business were burglarized.
