Michael Phelps Becomes a Dad

Winning Olympic gold medals is great, but it's not the pinnacle of life for champion swimmer Michael Phelps.

The Rodgers Forge native reported on Instagram that he and his fiancée welcomed a son into the world this week, an experience he described as the "best feeling I have ever felt in my life!"

Boomer Robert Phelps was born on Cinco de Mayo, at 7:21 p.m., Phelps reported with a photograph of him holding the baby with fiancée Nicole Johnson next to them.

"Being able to go through this process for the first time is something that I'll remember forever," Phelps told USA Today, describing how he put his head to Nicole's stomach and heard the baby kicking before he was born.
