Two Schools in Baltimore County Closed on Wednesday

Due to lack of heat, Villa Cresta Elementary School and Elmwood Elementary School will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to Baltimore County Public Schools.

Elmwood Elementary closed at 12:30 p.m.

Temperatures were in the single digits Wednesday morning and will not get above freezing Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Schools in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties as well as Baltimore City are opening with a two-hour delay on Wednesday.

Road Conditions

People should give themselves additional time and use extra caution on their Wednesday commute, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

“Icy spots [are] still possible, especially on untreated surfaces,” the authority reported Wednesday morning.

Weather Alert

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Baltimore County and much of Maryland from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The advisory calls for snow squalls after 3 p.m. and 1 to 2 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
