Towson 4th Of July Fireworks 2020 Canceled

The usual Fourth of July events in and around Towson are canceled, but there are several other ways to celebrate the holiday.

TOWSON, MD — July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Towson is among the cities and towns forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July festivities.

The Towson Independence Day Parade was canceled due to the coronavirus. So was the Towson 4 on the 4th Four-Mile Run and 1776 Family/Kids Fun Run.

In similar fashion, the Towson Communities Alliance voted not to hold fireworks this year.

"We cannot sponsor a public event like this given the uncertainty of the virus’ potential second wave, and how long we will need to continue social distancing," the Towson Communities Alliance said. "Obviously, this is a big disappointment to many who enjoy the July 4th show, so we will plan to have a bigger and better event next year, and hope that our sponsors will be able to support the celebration then."

Organizers noted the Towson Fireworks is donation-funded, and people can donate for the 2021 fireworks show.
