Towson Cancels 4th Of July Parade For 2020 Due To Coronavirus
The Towson Fourth of July Parade is one of several events canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
TOWSON, MD — Citing public safety, organizers of the Towson 4th of July Parade say it has been canceled for 2020. The organization released a statement Monday attributing the cancellation to restrictions on large gatherings amid concerns about public health due to COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus.
"We are very disappointed that we are going to have to cancel the Towson 4th of July Parade and Race due to the Covid 19 large crowd restrictions and public safety," the Towson 4th of July Parade organizers said in a statement. "We are so very grateful for our sponsors and the thousands of people that attended this event each year."
The change will be temporary, according to those who put together the Towson 4th of July Parade, who stated: "Next year we will return bigger and better and we will all celebrate the men and women that sacrificed so much for our country and the great community we are."
