Towson Bike Beltway Becomes Official
Cyclists and county officials will celebrate community's new bike loop with ribbon cutting.

The 4.3-mile bike loop designed to connect downtown Towson’s communities and resources will officially open Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting and bike ride.
County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will cut the ribbon along with bike advocates and other officials near the corner of Bosley at Susquehanna avenues at 11 a.m.
The loop includes three types of routes—individual bike lanes, bike lanes next to parking lanes and share-the-road routes that have signage but no marked lanes for bicyclists—according to a statement from Baltimore County.

Enabling bicyclists to safely ride from several Towson neighborhoods to shopping, university and government centers as well as Towson High School, the “bike beltway” is intended to help ease traffic congestion.
The project cost $120,000 and was supported in part by a $100,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Transportation.
