Towson Circle to Reshuffle Retail, Add 300-Plus Apartments
Change is reportedly ahead for Barnes & Noble and the rest of Towson Circle at the corner of Joppa at York roads.

TOWSON, MD — The owner of Towson Circle reportedly shared plans this week for reconfiguring the property, located at 1 East Joppa Road. Currently, it spans two levels, with a lower part that includes a parking area adjacent to Towson Town Center as well as an upper level accessible from Joppa at York roads.
Major tenants of Towson Circle include Barnes & Noble as well as Trader Joe's, which is relocating to The Shops at Kenilworth. While the bookseller is staying, it apparently will no longer be a two-story business.
The plans for Towson Circle call for Barnes & Noble to consolidate onto street level, giving up its below-grade space, according to The Baltimore Sun. The idea falls in line with the vision of owner Retail Properties of America to increase the visibility of businesses that are part of Towson Circle.

High-rise apartments will also reportedly be added to the mix. Retail Properties of America plans to build 371 apartments in the redevelopment project, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
Estimates for Towson Circle are around $30 million and do not include a hotel, which had previously been proposed, the journal said.
