Fire and Ice Night is Friday: Sculptures, Fire Pits, Free S'mores

The Towson Chamber of Commerce welcomes the community downtown Friday night during its Winterfest celebration.

TOWSON, MD — On a day of freezing cold, the Towson Chamber of Commerce invites the public downtown Friday, where things will be heating up from 6 to 9 p.m. for Fire and Ice Night.

Ice sculptures will be on display, as will fire pits and trees decorated by local businesses. Street performers, carolers, free s’mores and hot chocolate will be on tap too.

Representing the fiery side of Fire and Ice Night, visitors will find fire pits at Kathmandu Kitchen, Nacho Mama’s, Towson Arts Collective and the Charles Village Pub.

Bundle up, because it may feel below freezing with wind chill; weather officials said the "feels-like" temp was 25 degrees at 5 p.m. in Towson due to 24 mph wind gusts blowing amid the actual 35-degree temperature. Check the forecast from the National Weather Service.

For the fourth year, the Towson Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event, said that it will be holding a tree decorating contest. There will be 28 businesses competing, and awards will be given for most festive, most creative, most traditional and best Towson spirit.

Fire and Ice Night is 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in downtown Towson.

The Fire and Ice Night on Friday is part of Winterfest, a series of events the chamber coordinates to promote Towson businesses during the holiday season.

After Friday night's Winterfest, the fun will continue for kids Saturday at "Breakfast with the Grinch" at the Charles Village Pub and Sunday at "Santa's Workshop" at 1 East Joppa Road.
